Tanggol Kalikasan reports a total 5,201 baby turtles which have been returned in Tayabas Bay by the Bantay-Dagat since December 2023. The Bantay-Dagat in the area are trained on proper handling and caring of local turtles known as “pawikan” by Tanggol Kalikasan in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The nesting season will run until February of this year and they expect to release more baby turtles back to their natural habitat.
