Through Pinag-isang Lakas ng mga Samahan sa Casiguran (PIGLACSA), farmers in Casiguran forest-zone areas were given a training on Upland Farmers Sectoral Rights and Paralegal on February 22, 2020 to deepen their understanding on the implications of forest zones to natural resources and different tenancy laws such as Community-based Forest Management Agreement (CBFMA) and ISF.
Atty. Ma. Ronely Bisquera-Sheen and Atty. Fritzielyn Palmiery of Tanggol Kalikasan served as resource speakers of the event. They discussed the importance of forested lands to biodiversity, classification of land use in accordance to laws, and tenancy laws beneficial to the participants who are positioners in forest-zone areas in Casiguran. The activity aims to equip the participants with skills and adequate knowledge of their rights as foundation for organizing and mobilizing their fellow farmers to preserve their culture, livelihood and security.
