PALAWAN - Six municipalities namely Agutaya, Cagayanciillo, Cullion, Kalayaan, Rizal and San Vicente all from the province of Palawan implemented the Area Specific Action Plan or ASAP under Environmental Justice Sector Reform Program (EJSRP) of Tanggol Kalikasan Inc., with the support from the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and US-Department of State and International Technical Affairs (USDOI-ITAP) in partnership with Western Philippines University and Palawan State University.

Priority projects undertaken by the LGUs were Mangrove Rehabilitation in Agutaya; Establishment of Mangrove Nursery in Cullion; Establishment of Pawikan Hatchery in the Island of Kalayaan; Assessment of Marine Protected Area in Cullion and Cagayancillo; Stabilization of Riverbank and Mangrove Rehabilitation in Rizal and Isda Program in San Vicente.

Institute of Environmental Government (IEG) partners Palawan State University and Western Philippine University, initiated an information and education campaign on the importance of mangrove to local community, stakeholders, and local government officials to ensure the sustainability of the project. Prompting to have a tripartite agreement between IEG partners, the local government units and Tanggol Kalikasan to ensure the protection and conservation of the projects.
