Usec. Marlo and Asec Lilian leads the commitment wall signing
PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (May 2, 2024) - WPS Convenors led by the Department of Interior and Local Government pushed for the cascading of the Palawan Provincial Action Plan for the West Philippine Sea.

The caravan, named as “Bayanihang Adhikain, Bayaning Aksiyon para sa Kanlurang Dagat ng Pilipinas”, conducted in Palawan is only first of the series of caravans for the provinces within the West Philippine Sea. This was conceptualized to cascade the national and provincial plans of action plans geared towards the protection of the WPS with the end goal of securing food security and inclusive economic growth for the country. These plans were created during the first ever national summit for the West Philippine Sea last August 2023 with around 500 delegates from provincial, city and municipal LGUs covered by the WPS, national government agencies, academe and environmental organizations.

The Palawan Provincial Caravan was graced by the presence of the DILG as represented by Undersecretary for Local Government, Usec. Marlo L. Iringan; Assistant Secretary for International Relations, Asec. Lilian M. De Leon; and Assistant Secretary for Community Participation, Asec. Elizabeth N. Lopez de Leon. It was participated by the Palawan Governor, Hon. Victorino Dennis M. Socrates and local chief executives of the LGUs at the city and municipal levels. They are joined in by the representatives from the DENR, DA-BFAR, PCG, PNP-MG, DND, NEDA, DOE, CDA, DOJ, DICT, DOST, the Institutes of Environmental Governance from Western Philippines University, Palawan State University, Don Mariano Marcos State University and Mariano Marcos State University, and Tanggol Kalikasan. The program was able to popularize, validate, and enhance the provincial action plans.
