Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte — The Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG) successfully held its Joint Management Committee (ManCom) Meeting from October 8 to 11, 2025, at General Luna, Siargao Island. The event brought together the Management Committees of five IEG partner institutions
—Cagayan State University (CSU), Isabela State University (ISU), Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT), Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), and Camarines Norte State College (CNSC)—under the Environmental Justice Sector Reform Project (EJSRP) Phase 3.
The four-day meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration among IEGs in advancing environmental justice and good governance. It served as an avenue to ensure effective governance, strategic direction, and adaptive management, all contributing to the sustainability and long-term impact of IEG initiatives implemented across partner institutions.

During the sessions, participants presented updates on their respective IEGs, highlighting progress, accomplishments, challenges, and key lessons learned in project implementation. Strategic planning discussions were also conducted to outline the future direction, programs, and sustainability measures of the IEG network. The committee further addressed relevant concerns and agreed on next steps and action points to ensure continued progress and strengthened coordination among member institutions.

As part of the activity, participants engaged in a nature appreciation visit to Guyam Island, Naked Island, and Daku Island, capped with firefly watching at the Secret Beach. The visit provided a meaningful opportunity for committee members to experience Siargao’s rich biodiversity and reflect on the importance of protecting natural ecosystems, aligning with the IEG’s advocacy for environmental protection and sustainability.

The successful conduct of the Joint ManCom Meeting reaffirmed the commitment of IEG partners to collaborative governance and environmental stewardship, ensuring that the goals of the Environmental Justice Sector Reform Project continue to make a lasting impact in their respective regions.
