LUCENA CITY, Philippines - A 34-foot Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Patrol Boat was officially turned over to the Provincial Government of Quezon during the Quezon Fishery Summit on November 24, 2025, at the Queen Margarete Hotel.
The vessel, part of the Environmental Justice Sector Reform Project Phase 3 (EJSRP3), is a collaborative initiative led by Tanggol Kalikasan with the DILG, DA-BFAR, and support from the U.S. Department of State - INL and the U.S. Department of the Interior - ITAP. The patrol boat is expected to reinforce maritime enforcement and protect critical marine resources, particularly in areas such as the Philippine Rise.

The ceremony was attended by Undersecretary Asis G. Perez of the Department of Agriculture, Tanggol Kalikasan President Glenn Forbes, and representatives from the Institute of Environmental Governance of Southern Luzon State University, underscoring the strong academic and institutional support for sustainable resource management. BFAR Region IV-A Regional Director Sammy A. Malvas and Mr. Antonio L. Manrique also joined the event, reaffirming agency partnerships in fisheries protection.

Representing Governor Helen Tan, Provincial Agriculturist Ms. Ana Clarissa S. Mariano, ENP, DVSM, together with Executive Assistant Mr. Romano Talaga, formally received the symbolic key and blueprint of the patrol boat. The turnover signifies a major step in empowering local institutions and enhancing the province's capacity for coastal protection and maritime governance.
With this new patrol vessel, Quezon is poised to strengthen its monitoring of marine territories and contribute significantly to sustainable fisheries, environmental conservation, and community resilience.
