A series of Legal Cliniquing and Technical Conference was held in Mauban and Atimonan on January 23 and 25, respectively, as a part of the Tanggol Kalikasan’s campaign for full development and widespread use of renewable energy technologies, particularly microrenewables.
Dr. Luigi Saludes of the Southern Luzon State University presented the results of the community-based monitoring conducted in Pagbilao. As issues on environment, health and livelihood arouse, Mr. Estacio Lim, Jr. of Tanggol Kalikasan provided the audience some background on the step they can undertake in pursuing their basic human rights on a healthy environment.
Lawyers of Tanggol Kalikasan, Atty. Rey Recto and Atty. Mar. Ronely Bisquera-Sheen, answered legal questions raised by community members on displacement cause by development projects, lack of water supply due to laborers migration, and other concerns on the on-going construction of new coal-fired power plants.
