Catanauan, Quezon – Youth Environmental Summit (YES) 2024 with theme, “Kabataan para sa Kalikasan” gathered 94 participants from the Sangguniang Kabataan, youth organizations, offspring of fishermen, and young learners from coastal communities around Tayabas Bay and Ragay Gulf last April 18-19 2024 at Casa Joros Beach and Resort, Catanauan Quezon.

The 4th National Wildlife Law Enforcement Summit, held in Malay, Aklan, convened 117 participants to revisit the Wildlife Law Enforcement Action Plan (WILDLEAP) last March 18-23, 2023. Participants of the summit were representatives of different Law Enforcement Agencies from DENR Regional Offices, Bureau of Customs, PNP Maritime Group, Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Justice, National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine Ports Authority, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and from different civic society organizations.

Puerto Princesa City, Palawan — A comprehensive Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the crafting of the policy framework for livelihood was held on May 22-23, 2024 at the Palawan State University Hostel. This event brought together twenty-four participants including seaweed farmers, fishermen, fishing boat and fish cage operators, academics, traders, vendors, local government units (LGUs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC) leaders, and fisherfolk organizations and cooperatives.

The 2024 Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG) Partners Meeting, held at Central Luzon State University in Science City of Muños, Nueva Ecija on February 19, 2024, was a resounding success. The event brought together coordinators and members from 28 state colleges and universities across the Philippines, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and showcasing remarkable achievements in environmental governance.

Tanggol Kalikasan reports a total 5,201 baby turtles which have been returned in Tayabas Bay by the Bantay-Dagat since December 2023. The Bantay-Dagat in the area are trained on proper handling and caring of local turtles known as “pawikan” by Tanggol Kalikasan in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
