In time for the Philippine Arbor Day on June 25, 2020, Tanggol Kalikasan held its first webinar as a part of its digital campaign, Let’s Unite to Make it Right: #STOPcoal #GOrenewable, via Zoom.
Supporting the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act to combat the current COVID-19 Pandemic, the members of Tanggol Kalikasan from different parts of the Philippines gathered for their Annual General Assembly via Google Meet on June 20, 2020.
A series of Legal Cliniquing and Technical Conference was held in Mauban and Atimonan on January 23 and 25, respectively, as a part of the Tanggol Kalikasan’s campaign for full development and widespread use of renewable energy technologies, particularly microrenewables.
Attended by representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Tanggol Kalikasan, Batanes State College (BSC) launched its Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG), a training program for local government officials, on March 12, 2020.
To provide assistance to families affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano, members of Tanggol Kalikasan organized a relief operation dubbed as Tulong Kalamidad which aims to distribute relief goods, hygiene kits and sleeping kits to evacuation centers.
To further design initiatives that will strengthen the resource management and biodiversity conservation, the Local Government of Zamboanga City, together with its partners from Protect Wildlife and Partnership for Biodiversity of USAID, organized an Environmental Summit on March 11, 2020 at Marcian Convention Center, Marcia Garden Hotel, Zamboanga City.
In close coordination with Quezon’s Department of Environment and Natural Resources, 204 olive ridley sea turtle hatchlings were released by residents and members of Bantay Dagat in Brgy. Bignay II, Sariaya, Quezon on December 5, 2019. This was the second batch of hatchlings that were released in the area.
