The Lucena Diocesan Ministry of Integral Ecology, in collaboration with the various civic and non-government organizations, including Tanggol Kalikasan, gathered over 2,000 youth from various academic institutions, including Southern Luzon State University, Sacred Heart College of Lucena City, Inc., Dalubhasaan ng Lungsod ng Lucena, St. Joseph Academy of Sariaya, Calayan Education Foundation, Inc., The Lady Mediatrix Institute, Inc., and Casa Del Niño Jesus, for the “Walk for Creation 2024.” The walk for creation commenced at St. Ferdinand Cathedral and concluded at Sacred Heart College of Lucena City, Inc., where a program and Holy Mass took place.

Batac City, Ilocos Norte - Over 180 local government officials from 21 municipalities and 2 cities of Ilocos Norte gathered at Mariano Marcos State University on August 19, 2024, to participate in the second West Philippine Sea (WPS) Provincial Caravan.

Olongapo City – Oct 22 – Following its fourth Provincial Caravan held in La Union, WPS Convenor led by Department of Interior and Local Government continue to reach and echo the national and provincial action plans for the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Lucena City and Agdangan, Quezon Province – A four-day project monitoring and focus group discussion (FGD) was held from August 28 to 31, 2024, to assess the progress and impact of the Governance in Justice (GoJust) project, funded by the European Union.

Camarines Norte State College (CNSC) and Tanggol Kalikasan (TK) recently formalized a partnership to strengthen environmental protection and community empowerment in the region. 

Cabagan, Isabela – From July 8 to 12, 2024, an environmental governance training program was conducted at the Isabela State University Cabagan Campus. The training brought together department heads from the local government units (LGUs) of Isabela and Cagayan provinces, with the aim of strengthening their environmental management capabilities.

The Philippines is one of the world’s 18 megadiverse countries, which collectively host two-thirds of the earth’s biodiversity. It harbors one of the highest concentrations of unique wildlife species in the world. Yet, it is a country facing high levels of threats from habitat loss, invasive alien species (IAS), climate change, pollution, and overexploitation. Over the last decade, the Philippines has become a significant source, transit, and destination point for illegally traded wildlife, by-products, and derivatives.

From August 5 to 9, 2024, a Knowledge, Network, and Learning Exchange (KNLE) was held at the Department of Agriculture -Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources  Vessel Monitoring Center and the Department of Environment  and Natural Resources - Wildlife Rescue Center in Quezon City, as well as at the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center - Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD) in Iloilo and Guimaras. The event brought together mayors, vice mayors, Sangguniang Bayan members, and LGU representatives from the coastal communities of Quezon and Camarines Norte.
