The 2024 Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG) Partners Meeting, held at Central Luzon State University in Science City of Muños, Nueva Ecija on February 19, 2024, was a resounding success. The event brought together coordinators and members from 28 state colleges and universities across the Philippines, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and showcasing remarkable achievements in environmental governance.
A comprehensive IEG Training of Trainers was conducted last February 19 to 22, 2024 at Institute of Environmental Governance - Central Luzon State University in the Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.
A courtesy visit and meeting with Occidental Mindoro Governor Eduardo Gadiano was held last November 20, 2023 at his office with Tanggol Kalikasan senior legal adviser, Atty. Asis Perez, and livelihood consultant, Sally Bulatao together with current and former BFAR Provincial Fisheries Officers, Edgardo Payas and Ruperto Alforque.
Tanggol Kalikasan reports a total 5,201 baby turtles which have been returned in Tayabas Bay by the Bantay-Dagat since December 2023. The Bantay-Dagat in the area are trained on proper handling and caring of local turtles known as “pawikan” by Tanggol Kalikasan in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Tanggol Kalikasan through its Senior Legal Adviser Atty. Asis Perez together with Sally Bulatao, the consultant and Efrelyn Escultura, the program officer for livelihood had a meaningful visit and meeting with Palawan Governor Victorino Dennis Socrates about the RESTORE-WPS Project for the Livelihood component.
The Kasama ng Kalikasan team of Tanggol Kalikasan uncovered pressing environmental challenges faced by the Polillo Group of Islands (POGI) in a survey conducted from October 12 to 16, 2023. Polillo Group of Islands is composed of 27 islands located in the province of Quezon which has one of the longest coastal areas in the Philippines. POGI is 300 kilometers away from Benham Rise (Philippine Rise), a designated “protected food supply exclusive zone” where mining and oil exploration are strictly prohibited.
Tanggol Kalikasan Inc. through its Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG) launched another IEG Center at the Cagayan State University (CSU) in Caritan Sur, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan Province last October 25, 2023.
Tanggol Kalikasan presented the RESTORE-WPS Project to the members of the Provincial Development Council (PDC) of Occidental Mindoro last November 29,2023 at the Training Center in the Provincial Government Compound, Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.
DENR-Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) in partnership with Tanggol Kalikasan (TK) conducted the Port Assessment cum Capacity Building for Sasa International Seaport from September 20 to 22, 2023 at Apo View Hotel, Davao City. This activity is a part of TK’s programmatic approach on supporting Environmental Law Enforcement.
