To mark its 17th Universityhood Celebration on March 14th, Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tanggol Kalikasan.    The agreement, led by new University President, Dr. Frederick T. Villa together with  Dr. Marissa Espiral, the Vice President for Research Extension, and Tanggol Kalikasan Managing Director, Atty. Ma. Ronely Bisquera-Sheen aims to strengthen partnerships through  the Institute of Environmental Governance's (IEG) programs. This initiative will empower local governments officials to effectively manage their natural resources that are mandated to them.

Tanggol Kalikasan’s Executive Director Atty. Fritzielyn Palmiery and Staff Lawyer Atty. Mark Martinez attended the Supreme Court’s National Summit on Sustainability and Environmental Law with the theme “Enabling Environmental and Climate Justice: Bridging Science and Laws for Responsive Rules and Sustainable Development.” It was held from November 27-30, 2024, at Aziza Hotel, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Tanggol Kalikasan took part in the implementation of the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangay (SGLGB) in the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Batangas, and Quezon  (CALABARZON) last September 16-20, 2024 at Chateau Bleu Resort in Calamba, Laguna. 

Quezon City- On December 18, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) conducted the AFP’s TRIB-YOUTH 2024 - with the theme, “Our Seas, Our Rights and Our Future” which highlighted the solidarity of the youth with actions upholding the protection of the West Philippine Sea (WPS). It showcased the youths’  abilities in various forms of art, music, and performance while simultaneously promoting awareness on WPS. Tanggol Kalikasan under Restore WPS Project collaborated with the AFP in the conduct of the said activity. 

Lucena City - Tanggol Kalikasan (TK) actively participated in the Philippine Seaweed Congress, held on November 7-8, 2024, at the Citystate Asturias Hotel in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. TK Consultant for Livelihood, Salvacion Bulatao, and Project Officer Efrelyn Escultura-Calabano represented the organization at the event, which served as a significant platform for exchanging valuable insights, presenting innovative solutions, and showcasing research findings that support the Local Economic Development (LED) framework. The Congress also underscored the vast potential of the seaweed industry as a driver of economic growth and sustainability.

On September 25-26, 2024, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) held a pivotal workshop at B Hotel in Quezon City, focused on developing a comprehensive protocol for prosecuting wildlife and forest crimes. The event gathered DENR lawyers and prosecutors from across the Philippines, fostering collaboration to strengthen legal frameworks against environmental crimes.
