Tanggol Kalikasan’s Executive Director Atty. Fritzielyn Palmiery and Staff Lawyer Atty. Mark Martinez attended the Supreme Court’s National Summit on Sustainability and Environmental Law with the theme “Enabling Environmental and Climate Justice: Bridging Science and Laws for Responsive Rules and Sustainable Development.” It was held from November 27-30, 2024, at Aziza Hotel, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Quezon, and Camarines Norte, brought together mayors, vice mayors, Sangguniang Bayan members, and LGU representatives from the coastal communities of Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and other coastal LGUs from Quezon and Camarines Norte who cannot join on batch 1. The event was held at the Department of Agriculture—Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Vessel Monitoring Center, Department of Environment  and Natural Resources - Wildlife Rescue Center in Quezon City, and at the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center - Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD) in Iloilo and Guimaras, 

Quezon City- On December 18, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) conducted the AFP’s TRIB-YOUTH 2024 - with the theme, “Our Seas, Our Rights and Our Future” which highlighted the solidarity of the youth with actions upholding the protection of the West Philippine Sea (WPS). It showcased the youths’  abilities in various forms of art, music, and performance while simultaneously promoting awareness on WPS. Tanggol Kalikasan under Restore WPS Project collaborated with the AFP in the conduct of the said activity. 

Bacnotan, La Union– Tanggol Kalikasan in partnership with the WPS Convenors led by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) successfully held the Provincial Caravan for the Province of La Union entitled “Bayanihang Adhikain, Bayaning Aksiyon Para Sa Kanlurang Dagat Ng Pilipinas”. The activity was held in the International Convention Center at Bacnotan, La Union, participated in by 191 participants from the regional and field offices of the national government agencies and by the provincial, city, and municipalities’ local government units in the province of La Union.

Lucena City, Quezon – In a meaningful conservation effort, 62 newly hatched Olive Ridley sea turtles were released into the waters of Tayabas Bay on December 27, 2024. The event took place at the coastline of Barangay Bignay 2, Sariaya, Quezon, marking another step toward protecting endangered marine species.

The Lucena Diocesan Ministry of Integral Ecology, in collaboration with the various civic and non-government organizations, including Tanggol Kalikasan, gathered over 2,000 youth from various academic institutions, including Southern Luzon State University, Sacred Heart College of Lucena City, Inc., Dalubhasaan ng Lungsod ng Lucena, St. Joseph Academy of Sariaya, Calayan Education Foundation, Inc., The Lady Mediatrix Institute, Inc., and Casa Del Niño Jesus, for the “Walk for Creation 2024.” The walk for creation commenced at St. Ferdinand Cathedral and concluded at Sacred Heart College of Lucena City, Inc., where a program and Holy Mass took place.

On September 25-26, 2024, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) held a pivotal workshop at B Hotel in Quezon City, focused on developing a comprehensive protocol for prosecuting wildlife and forest crimes. The event gathered DENR lawyers and prosecutors from across the Philippines, fostering collaboration to strengthen legal frameworks against environmental crimes.
